The F.O.P. Range is the host of several firearm competition events every month.

Dixie Shooters IPSC (Internation Practical Shooting Confederation) Club matches

On the 2nd Sunday of each month, the USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) affilliated Dixie Shooters IPSC Club holds an IPSC match with 5 courses of fire.  One of the courses will be a "classifier stage" taken from the USPSA classifier book that will be submitted to USPSA to help rank your skill level against all the other IPSC shooters in the world.  Dixie Shooters is the largest and most active IPSC club in Alabama.  Shooting starts at 12:30 P.M. Sign up is at 12:00 P.M.

Steel Plate matches ( On hold for now )

On the 1st Sunday of each month, the range holds one of three plate matches.  All are a blast to shoot.  We will alternate the format each month to keep things interesting.
The falling steel plate match is the oldest format.    One run is three steel plate target arrays.  You add the time it takes you to shoot down the plates on all three target arrays and that is your score.  It is a speed shooting event for both revolvers and semi-autos.  You compete against guys with your skill level for trophies.   Following the Falling Steel Plate match, we hold a "Man-on-Man" Shootoff match.
The second format is a Steel challenge match, as seen on TV.  One run on the plates is 80 plates.  It is a good day of shooting steel.
The third format is the Falling Forty.  Forty falling steel plates with a par time to shoot as many as you can before time runs out.  Skill level determines the amount of time you have.
Match results are also posted there.
Take a look at the link to the left for a complete description of what the falling steel plate matches are like.

IPSC or Practical 3 Gun Matches (On hold for now )

Each month, following the IPSC handgun match on the first Saturday, we will reuse some of the stages from the IPSC match for a IPSC Rifle or Shotgun match.  It will run as a side match.
