Membership:
The F.O.P. Range Inc. is a range open to the public for a daily fee or through purchase of membership to be paid annually. The requirements for range use or membership include having a valid driver's license, having a pistol permit or be able to get a pistol permit (no crimes of violence or felonies in your criminal history) and be of age to purchase pistol ammo (be at least 21 years old). Everyone joining the range has filled out a membership agreement, agreeing to abide by safety rules while on the range and has gone through a range safety orientation.

Your paid membership will allow you full use of everything we have to offer at the range. Non-member's range use is restricted to the Public Range. Members may use all the ranges on our facility. Members can borrow a chronograph to see what your ammo is doing. Members can use of our shot timers to see how fast you are shooting so you can chart your performance. We sell targets, ammunition, and other shooting and reloading supplies. The range is about the only place in Birmingham where you can find bulk bullets from Delta Precision, Berry's, Magnus, Ranier, and others. We are a Dillon progressive reloading press dealer and can save you 10% off the Dillon catalog price for the best reloading equipment available. Soft drinks, snacks, and a clean restroom are available, and we have emergency medical services minutes away .

The range currently has over 570 active dues paid members and we are growing every week. When we hit 600 members, there will be no more memberships sold. An existing member will have to let a membership lapse to make room for another member. Membership rates will go up and deposits for openings accepted to get you on the waiting list. This is the way it is at better ranges around the country. We have a limited amount of room, 10 acres and 8 ranges, and often accomodate more than 100 shooters during a nice weekend. We are at capacity. As of February 25, 2011, we have 572 active members. At the rate we are going, we will be full by April. Now is the time to move. Join now while you can.

Full Family Membership: This plan costs $250 a year and has a first year initiation fee of $50 on top of the first year's dues to get it started. With this plan, the member may use the range whenever we are open and never pay a range use fee. He may bring his immediate family with him (spouse and kids up to 20) for free. You may bring guests other than your spouse and kids for a small $10 per day guest fee. And yes, your spouse may use the membership to the range without your help. Both of you can come to the range any time you want and bring guests. Each of you will need to complete a membership agreement and get a range safety orientation before using the facility.

Single Membership: This plan costs $150 a year and has a first year initiation fee of $50 on top of the first year's dues to get it started. With this plan, the member has use of the entire facility 7 days a week. He may bring any number of guests for the normal guest fee of $10 per guest.

Limited Family Membership: This plan costs $100 a year and has a first year initiation fee of $50 on top of the first year's dues to get you in. With this plan, the member may use the range Monday through Thursday and never pay a range use fee. You may bring your immediate family with you (spouse and kids up to the age of 20) for free. You may bring guests other than your spouse and kids for a small $10 per day guest fee. And yes, your spouse may use the range without your help. Both of you can come to the range any time you want and bring guests. Each of you will need to complete a membership agreement and attend a range safety orientation before using the facility. Use of the facility on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be restricted to the Public range and incur the daily $20 per person use fee. This membership is intended to help retirees or those of us with screwed up off days get use of the range during the week when it is not as busy.

Family Add-On Membership: Your children over the age of 20 can join with a family member add-on membership for half of what the parent's membership runs. For example, Dad is a Full Member with dues that cost $250 per year and son or daughter turns 21 and wants to shoot on their own. They can now purchase the same Full Membership for $125 per year. If Dad has a Limited Membership with $100 per year dues, then the 21 year old can join as a limited member for $50 per year. They will then be able to come to the range alone, bring guests, and enjoy the facility. The initiation fee will be waived for family member add-on memberships. The rate will remain the same for as long as the original member, Dad, remains current on on his range dues. If he lets his membership lapse, the renewal rate for the add-on will be the regular rate for new members.

Special rate for full time law enforcement. $150 per year dues for a Full Family Law Enforcement membership with a no initiation fee, or $100 per year dues with no initiation fee for a Single Law Enforcement membership. All other regular fees apply, such as the $10 guest fee.

Memberships are renewable on the anniversary of the date you joined and are not pro-rated or tied to any specific calander year. We send out renewal reminders on the first of each month to all the annual members who are due to renew during that month. Send a check, call in a card number or come out to renew your membership. Annual Membership dues are billed on the anniversary of the date you joined. Monthly Membership dues payments are automatically submitted to the bank on the first business day of each month. Hours of Operation:
The range is open 7 days a week; from 9:00 am till 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday, 12:00 noon till 5:00 pm Sunday. When the days get longer, we will remain open until 7:00 pm. The range is available free of charge to local, state, and federal agencies who do not have their own range and have requested the use of our facility. Call the Range for details. 205-744-2600.
